Welcome to Millbrae Nursery School! We welcome enrollment during the school year. Please call  (650) 589-3028 if you would like to arrange a visit or ask any questions.

Millbrae Nursery School is a nonprofit, cooperative preschool. Since 1938, Millbrae Nursery School has been providing a safe and social educational experience for children aged 2-5 and their families.

We pride ourselves on our caring, professional staff, our beautifully-equipped facilities, and our unique play yard designed by Stanford professor Nelson Van Judah.

Millbrae Nursery School provides amenities and flexibility to families unlike any other preschool in San Mateo County, while still remaining affordable through the cooperative experience.

* School is open 5 days a week for all of our classes.
* You may enroll your child for school for as little as 2 or as many as 5 days per week.
* Children need not be potty trained.
* Younger siblings may attend the parent’s weekly workday (by arrangement).
* Extended care hours available all week, from 8 am to 5:30 pm.

The History of Millbrae Nursery School

In 1938, a group of mothers and fathers desired a rich and meaningful play and learning experience for their preschool children. Millbrae Nursery School was born. The fledgling school bore no physical resemblance to our school as it is today, but its ideals provided then, as they do now, a safe and attractive place where a child finds equipment for active play and where books and creative media for quiet play are available to his curious and expressive nature. A child learned then, as now, to use his body; to cope with his own feelings and emotions; to get along with others; to satisfy his curiosity; to widen his experience; to accept limitations; to communicate with others; to grow in self-confidence and self-reliance.

The school is approaching its 84th year of serving children and families and is going strong with three classes (2-3-year-olds, 3-4-year-olds, and Pre-K). The school is constantly changing to meet the needs of the children and their parents, and we proudly participate in QRIS ~ Quality Rating Improvement activities in conjunction with SMCOE & San Mateo County First 5.  Extended care is now available for our families 5 days a week.
