Today the children, and grown-ups enjoyed a train ride field trip to Washington Park in Burlingame. Our 2 & 3 year old class boarded Cal-Train at the San Bruno station, and the kiddos had to make the big decision of sitting upstairs or downstairs. After settling into our seats, we all were quickly smiling, talking, laughing and singing; much to the amusement of the morning commuters! We even caught a quick glimpse of Millbrae Nursery school from the train windows as we zoomed by. At Washington Park we enjoyed a delicious snack of homemade pumpkin muffins, fresh fruit, cheese and juice. We ended our fieldtrip by blowing gallons of bubbles into the air, and sleepily riding the train back to school.

Millbrae Fire Department Visits the MNS Pre-K class

The children from the Pre-K class were really excited that the fire fighters visited them last Thursday. The children got a tour of the fire truck and a look inside.

Millbrae Nursery School Sibling Policy

Millbrae Nursery School has the best sibling policy of all preschools in San Mateo County, siblings can be brought to parent’s workdays with very few exception. Read the entire policy that is also found in the handbook here:

Siblings under two (2) years of age will be allowed at no charge when the following guidelines are met:

The attendance of the child has been arranged with the teacher or Admissions Coordinator prior to the parent’s workday.
Only one (1) child under the age of two(2) will be allowed per class session.
For the safety of all children, the sibling must be supervised by his or her parent while the parent accomplishes their assigned workday duties.
The State adult:child ratio must be maintained.

Siblings two (2) years or over will be allowed when the following guidelines are met:

The attendance of the child has been arranged with the Director prior to his or her attendance.
The child must be between the ages of two (2) and six (6).
The child will be billed at the drop in extended care rate.
The child’s care and safety will be the responsibility of Millbrae Nursery School.

PAID WORKDAY

If you are doing a workday for pay you will only be able to bring one (1) child who is currently enrolled in the school program with you on that workday. NO siblings less than 2 years or over 7 years will be allowed to accompany you on a paid workday.

The History of Millbrae Nursery School

In 1938, a group of mothers and fathers desired a rich and meaningful play and learning experience for their preschool children. Millbrae Nursery School was born. The fledgling school bore no physical resemblance to our school as it is today, but its ideals provided then, as they do now, a safe and attractive place where a child finds equipment for active play and where books and creative media for quiet play are available to his curious and expressive nature. A child learned then, as now, to use his body; to cope with his own feelings and emotions; to get along with others; to satisfy his curiosity; to widen his experience; to accept limitations; to communicate with others; to grow in self-confidence and self-reliance.

The school has reached its 70th year of serving children and families and is going strong with three classes. The school is constantly changing to meet the needs of the children and their parents. Extended care is available for working parents and for other parents in the school who need it on an occasional basis.

Millbrae Nursery School provides you with an opportunity to share a wonderful experience with your child.
