Unity – a poem

By Cleo V. Swarat

I dreamed I stood in a studio
And watched two sculptors there,
The clay they used was a young child’s mind
And they fashioned it with care.

One was a teacher:
the tools she used were books and music and art;
One was a parent
With a guiding hand and gentle loving heart.

And when at last their work was done,
They were proud of what they had wrought.
For the things they had worked into the child
Could never be sold or bought!

And each agreed she would have failed
if she had worked alone.
For behind the parent stood the school,
and behind the teacher stood the home!

I would like to thank all the teachers and parents at MNS for being such a wonderful support and introduction to school as a parent and child. Coda, Jenner and I appreciate all the time, effort, love, listening, and learning shared with us. We as a family have had some intense moments both good and bad over the last 18 plus months and these moments would have been much harder without the family we have at MNS. We are moving into a new journey in our lives and we are excited about the new adventures to come, but sad to be leaving MNS. Thank you for everything.

Heather, Kevin, Coda and Jenner

submitted by Priscilla Paras-Huerta

The season of giving is upon us again (my how 2009 has gone by so fast). Instead of running around trying to find the perfect gift for friends and family, I have started an annual tradition of giving homemade gifts in a jar. There are many recipes on the internet, but I would like to share two of my best received ones. This allows me to spend time with the kids and make unique presents to share.

Healthy Eating,
Priscilla Paras-Huerta

From Teacher Megan’s and Teacher Norma’s Class

2009 is coming to a quick end. Where has the time gone?

In the classroom we are doing many fun and great things. The children have been learning the calendar and counting the days of the week. With the weather changing on us we have been spending many days indoors jumping and dancing. They really seem to enjoy those days indoors.

December is one of our favorite months. We enjoy it so much because it is the time when all the family can come together to give thanks for everything good that has happened in the year. It is a time when we give to others.

Teacher Norma and I want to thank you for all your help in and out of the classroom.

We wish you all Happy Holidays, Feliz Navidad y Prospero 2009!

Teacher Megan and Teacher Norma
